Details
Sapphire is a strong blue, and in this antique rug it shows up against beige, sandstone and ivory, so there's contrast without it being loud. It's hand-knotted in Turkey with a Persian knot, the wool and cotton pile lies nearly flat, and it's one of a kind.
Where we'd use it: a dining room with a dark table, or a living room where you want to bring in blue without painting. At 8'5" x 10'7" it's big enough for a table with its chairs pulled out.
Pair it with: sapphire or cobalt glass, white upholstered chairs and dark stained oak.

Care
Vacuum regularly on a low setting, without the beater bar on wool and hand-knotted rugs. Blot spills straight away with a clean white cloth; don't rub. Turn the rug every six months so it wears and fades evenly, and use a rug pad underneath. For deep cleaning, use a professional rug cleaner.
