Burnt sienna does the heavy lifting in this antique rug, with dusty rose and sage adding softness and sandstone and ivory giving it air. Hand-knotted in Turkey with the Persian knot, it has a low wool-and-cotton pile and fringe, and it's a single, one-of-a-kind piece.
Where we'd use it: a large living room with a warm palette, or a dining room with a long wooden table. At 8'1" x 11'4" the table and all the chairs stay on the rug, even when someone pushes back.
Pair it with: rust or clay-coloured linen, dusty pink pottery and warm walnut.

Care
Vacuum regularly on a low setting, without the beater bar on wool and hand-knotted rugs. Blot spills straight away with a clean white cloth; don't rub. Turn the rug every six months so it wears and fades evenly, and use a rug pad underneath. For deep cleaning, use a professional rug cleaner.
