Details
Seven colours in a runner this narrow could feel busy, but here burnt sienna and midnight blue hold everything together, with terracotta, olive green, gold, charcoal and ivory in the detail. It's an antique, hand-knotted in Turkey, very flat, and the only one there is.
Where we'd use it: a long hallway with plain walls, where a runner is the one place to add pattern, or a back entry that sees boots and bags. At 14'4" long it covers a real stretch of floor without needing two rugs.
Pair it with: white or warm greige walls, a dark wood bench and brass hooks.

Care
Vacuum regularly on a low setting, without the beater bar on wool and hand-knotted rugs. Blot spills straight away with a clean white cloth; don't rub. Turn the rug every six months so it wears and fades evenly, and use a rug pad underneath. For deep cleaning, use a professional rug cleaner.
