Details
Over 16 feet long and 6'6" wide, this is a gallery-shaped antique: the kind of long rug that suits rooms where standard sizes never fit. It's hand-knotted in Turkey in burnt sienna, terracotta, sandstone, ivory and slate blue, fringed at both ends, and it's the only one.
Where we'd use it: a long formal dining room, a wide centre hall in an older house, or a lengthy open kitchen. It also works along the length of a long sectional in a basement family room.
Pair it with: slate-blue or cream painted walls, dark wood, and copper or brass accents.

Care
Vacuum regularly on a low setting, without the beater bar on wool and hand-knotted rugs. Blot spills straight away with a clean white cloth; don't rub. Turn the rug every six months so it wears and fades evenly, and use a rug pad underneath. For deep cleaning, use a professional rug cleaner.
