Details
Seventeen feet long and one of a kind, this antique runner sets goldenrod against sapphire and slate blue, with olive and sandstone in between. It's hand-knotted in Turkey from wool in an updated traditional style, with fringed ends.
Where we'd use it: a very long hall in a large house, or a cottage corridor that links a string of bedrooms. At 518 cm, measure your hall end to end first; the rug should stop short of each wall.
Pair it with: sapphire velvet on a nearby bench, brass sconces and pale walls to let the blues stand out.

Care
Vacuum regularly on a low setting, without the beater bar on wool and hand-knotted rugs. Blot spills straight away with a clean white cloth; don't rub. Turn the rug every six months so it wears and fades evenly, and use a rug pad underneath. For deep cleaning, use a professional rug cleaner.
